Artist Statement

"My artwork is influenced by the imaginative and playful composition, color, and design of Persian miniatures. With the Goddess series I began exploring pre-history and non-western religions. I found early pagan religions often have gracious and fierce female goddesses whose personalities and powers are fascinating.

Entwining contemporary themes and words in an historical format gives a twist to my visual statements.

Lately I have been adding an overlay of American Folk art to my imagery to more closely align my work to who I am: a middle-age, middle-class, white Jewish American woman artist, sans angst, no apologies."
